Children’s Religious Education
The Children’s Religious Education Program is designed to supplement parental efforts to educate their children in our faith. Our teachers, all volunteers, are devoted to this special ministry. They provide instruction in our faith, as well as a living example of following in the ways of Jesus. The over-all goal of the program is for God’s Word to take root and live in the hearts and minds of our children. Like Paul, we are servants of the Church and are challenged to teach our children this message and its value in their everyday lives.
Religious Education classes are held on Sundays at 10:00 a.m. in the Parish Hall from September–May. Classes are available for children in grades 1-8 (through the reception of Confirmation).
Sacramental preparation for both First Holy Communion and Confirmation are two- year programs. In 1st grade children begin their preparation to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation and First Holy Communion, both of which take place in the spring of 2nd grade. Preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation is also a two-year process. Students begin the pre-confirmation year in the 7th grade.
There is an established curriculum for all grade levels. During the course of the year, students also participate in serving the Church family and the community, celebrating Church holidays, craft-making, and various other activities. Our program requires and encourages parental support and involvement.
Registration for Religious Education classes takes place every August for the following school year. Dates are published in the Church Bulletin.
The Family Handbook is a guide to the policies and procedures of the Religious Education program. Please download a copy to read over and keep at home.
